Assamese comedy film ‘Local Utpaat’ set for release on May 13


The highly anticipated Assamese comedy film “Local Utpaat” is set to hit theaters on May 13. The team behind cult films ‘Local Kung Fu’ and YouTube channel ‘Heavy Budget’ released the trailer for ‘Local Utpaat’ on April 8.

Written, edited and directed by Kenny Basumatary, ‘Local Utpaat’ is the fourth feature film from the ‘Local Kung Fu’ and ‘Heavy Budget’ team.

The film stars Bonny Deori, Poonam Gurung, Jonny Deori, Montu Deuri, Kenny Basumatary, Sarmistha Chakravorty, Tony Deori Basumatary, Himanshu Gogoi, Kaushik Nath, Mrigendra Konwar, Bibhuti Bhushan Hazarika and Yatharth Agnihotri.

In the film, Bonny’s character Amit, Jonny, and Montu live in a rented house owned by sleepwalking landlord Deben da. When Amit’s girlfriend, Maya, has a feud with her sister, it sets off a hilarious series of events involving Amit’s disaster-prone older brother, Maya’s national-level shooter father, a kidney dalaal, a dalaal from work, the ex-boyfriend of Maya Donnie, a drunken kidney surgeon Dr. Kabir Pratap Singh, useless goonda Jango and gang, and the ultra-cunning Break-Up Guru and his assistant.

“Local Utpaat” promises to be a full-fledged comedy movie that you can enjoy with your friends and family. Suruj Deka again handles camera duties, background music was composed by bassist extraordinaire Akashdeep Gogoi, filmmaker Dhruva J Bordoloi did color grading and the soundtrack features songs by Utkal Hazowary , Bornalee Deuri, Geet Bhoirab and Kool-D.

The film, which is slated for release in cinemas in Assam and other locations on May 13, has been completed with contributions from more than 1,200 crowdfunders on
