Prabhas’ 2005 film Chakram is one of the classic Telugu films. Although the film did not do well in theaters, it became cult. The content-driven film was a huge surprise to audiences after hit action and romance film Varsham, Tollywood’s biggest super hit. But did you know that Chakram was never supposed to happen? Yes, now after many years, Chakram director, Krishna Vamsi has revealed that this movie is very personal to Prabhas as he cast it.
The director revealed that after Varsham’s success, Prabhas wanted to make a content-oriented and performance-based film, so he chose Varsham. Like most directors, Krishna Vamsi also approached Prabhas for an action movie, but the actor said he wanted to play a role with a good acting range on his part. It was then that Krishna Vamshi invented the Chakram scenario.
Chakram features Prabhas, Asin, and Charmme Kaur in the lead roles. The film features Prabhas as a cancer patient who devotes his last days to the poor, sick and needy. The film also won the Nandi Awards at the time.
Meanwhile, work-wise, Prabhas has Projectk with director Nag Ashwin, which also stars Deepika Padukone and Amitabh Bachchan. He will also be seen in the role of Lord Ram in the big budget pan-Indian film, Adipurush which also stars Sunny Singh, Kriti Sanon and Saif Ali Khan. The actor is busy filming for Salaar with Prashanth Neel and Shruti Haasan.
After wrapping up those three projects, Prabhas will begin filming Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Spirit. According to our information, he is also teaming up with director Maruthi for a supernatural action thriller titled Raja Deluxe. Malavika Mohanan and Anushka Shetty are considered for female roles. However, an official announcement has yet to be made.
