Miserable status of a big budget movie

Shamshera, along with Ranbir Kapoor, raised a total of Rs 40.45 crore in seven days. In the first three days, it fetched Rs 31.75 crore. The company’s revenue fell significantly on Monday, when it brought in Rs 2.90 crore from Rs 11 crore on Sunday, and on Thursday, it brought in Rs 1.50 crore. There’s really little chance the film will improve in its second weekend given what’s new this week. We wonder if the film will even be able to exceed the 50 crore threshold! This is Ranbir’s sixth career film flop.

The spectacular failure of Shamshera proved to be a major setback for yash Raj Films (YRF). They had two hit movies to close out 2019: war and Mardaani 2. After the pandemic, sandeep Aur pinky Faraar was their first movie (2021). He disappeared into thin air. Then came a series of failures, including Bunty Aur Babli 2 in 2021, jayeshbhai jordaar in 2022, Samrat Prithviraj, and now Shamshera.

Taran Adarsh, a seasoned industry professional, replied, “Nobody wants to start a movie planning a flop. They were all pre-pandemic movies. During the pandemic, viewing habits changed. The “The enchantment of Southern cinema was evident. As a result, there are extremely high expectations for every Bollywood film. Many of these films could have performed better at the box office and overall before COVID hit. The film would not have succeeded in Shamshera’s situation, either before or after the pandemic.
