Many pop culture fans were looking forward to the recently released film The gray man For several reasons. Along with its highly acclaimed Marvel Cinematic Universe directors, massive budget, and incredible cast, the film is also based on a popular 2009 novel by author Mark Greaney. This particular book was the first in a large series of novels that a number of filmmakers have attempted to adapt in the past. With each failed attempt, he looked like The gray man would never make it to the big screen, until Anthony and Joe Russo took over the project. Now that the film has successfully landed on Netflix, it has been revealed that a sequel to The gray man as well as a spin-off are both in development.

As reported via Deadline, Netflix has announced that Ryan Gosling will return in the sequel to The gray man. Additionally, Anthony and Joe Russo will also return to direct the film. The screenplay will be written by Stephen McFeely, unlike the first film, where he co-wrote the screenplay alongside Joe Russo and Christopher Markus.

As for the spin-off, details are scarce for this project. However, it was revealed that dead Pool deductible and zombieland Writers Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese will tackle the script for this particular film. Although Joe Russo couldn’t comment much on the spin-off which will be “something a little more edgy and experimental”, he had this to say about the sequel:

“The sequel will be inspired by Mark Greaney’s novel. Translating from one medium to another often requires interpretation, but we have an incredible amount of source material from an incredible supply. We will take inspiration from this for the future.

Anthony Russo and Joe Russo directed The gray man, one of the most expensive Netflix movies ever made, based on the 2009 novel of the same name by Mark Greaney. The film’s screenplay was written by Joe Russo, Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely.

The film’s cast includes Ryan Gosling, Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, Jessica Henwick, Rege-Jean Page, Wagner Moura, Julia Butters, Dhanush, Alfre Woodard and Billy Bob Thornton.
