Pakistani Punjabi action drama “The Legend of Maula Jatt” is wreaking havoc at the box office in the domestic market as well as overseas. The film overtook many Indian films at the UK box office.

It is a Punjabi action drama directed by Bilal Lashari and is a reboot of the cult classic Maula Jatt (1979). It is supported by Ammara Hikmar and Dr. Asad Jamil Khan under the Encyclopedia banner.

The Legend of Maula Jatt Box Office

TLOMJ is the most expensive Pakistani film to date, it is made on a budget of 50 crore PKR. The film had a wide release on October 13. It was released on over 500 screens worldwide, making it the biggest release film in the history of Pakistani film industry.

However, it grabbed more screens as demand grew. The makers recently announced through the film’s official SM handle, that it has become the highest grossing Punjabi film crossing the industry in the lifetime of Carry on Jatta 2, Saunkan Suankne and Chal Mera Putt 2.

Exceeded RRR, KGF2 and Brahmastra lifetime

It was recently reported that it grossed $7.8 million worldwide (around INR 63 crore) in its fourth week. In PKR 172 crores WW which consists of 62 Cr in Pakistan and 100 crores overseas.

Reports also suggest that it has surpassed the lifespan of hit Indian films such as KGF:2, RRR and Brahmastra in British box office. It is said to be the second highest grossing film in the UK this year with around £1.20million.

Getting closer to 200 Cr WW

According to the recent reports, TLOMJ brought in over 190 crore PKR in its 5th weekend. And now, it is expected to soon cross the PKR 200 crore mark at the global box office, becoming the very first film in the Pakistani film industry to achieve the feat.

The Maula Jatt legend is riding on tremendous word of mouth and will be aiming to end his run with PKR 95-100 Cr lifetime at the Pakistani box office and around PKR 225-230 Cr globally. He entered his fifth week and still has his dream run at the BO.
