Filmmaker Vipul Shah chaired the feature film jury this year. National Awards for films that have been produced and released in the country are always eagerly awaited. Also this year, films from South Indian industries – Telugu, Kannada, Tamil and Malayalam – won laurels at the 68th National Film Awards.
Last year at the 67th National Awards, Kangana Ranaut received the Best Actress award for Manikarnika and Panga. While Manoj Bajpayee received the best actor award.
Ajay Devgn after receiving his third National Best Actor Award, ”I am delighted to win Best Actor for Tanhaji—The Unsung Warrior at the 68th National Awards with Suriya winning for Soorarai Pottru. The actor also received the award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment: Tanhaji. Speaking on the same subject, he said, “As the producer of Tanhaji—The Unsung Warrior, it gives me immense joy to receive an honor at the 68th National Film Awards for Best Film that Provided Wholesome Entertainment. Tanhaji was exactly that. It’s a beautiful story of friendship, loyalty, family values and sacrifice. It has strong national feelings, great VFX and a holistic approach to entertainment. I have to share the honor with my director Om Raut, my co-producers, T-Series and my co-actors. Above all, I thank my creative team who generously helped make it a blockbuster and now a national award winner.
