Jane Campion’s latest film won seven impressive awards.
The Boston Online Film Critics Association (BOFCA) has announced its 2021 winners, with The power of the dog topped the table with seven wins and being named best film of the year. The only actor award who The power of the dog did not walk away with was for best actress, with Kristen stewart earning this honor for his work in Spencer. BOFCA is proud of its ready-made picks and past winners for Best Film in Mad Max: Fury Road and Get out certainly support its uniqueness of the Oscars.
Dog power cast members Benedict Cumberbatch, Kirsten dunst, and Kodi-Smit McPhee won the awards for Best Actor, Best Supporting Actress and Best Supporting Actor, respectively. Licorice Pizza was honored by winning the award for best ensemble, with Cooper hoffman and Alana Chaim leading the charge of this distribution. Dune also received a little love, with Hans zimmer be recognized for the best score, and Joe walker winner of the best editing.
To flee, the Danish documentary retracing the story of Amin, a refugee who fled Afghanistan to seek refuge in Denmark, was named best documentary. Michel riandais innovative and thoughtful The Mitchells vs. the Machines was named best animated feature.
