Mummy star Brendan Fraser has landed in Glasgow to shoot scenes for the new big budget HBO movie Batgirl.

The 53-year-old actor stars as the villainous Firefly in the film, which is directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah (from Bad Boys 4 Life).

They shared a photo and video on their respective Instagram pages showing Fraser receiving a birthday cake from the crew on his first day in Glasgow on the set.

We reported last week that filming for the superhero movie is now underway, which sees Glasgow return to Gotham City behind the scenes of The Flash and The Batman that took place in the city.

The next DC movie will see Leslie Grace (In the heights) stars as Batgirl, Gotham’s young vigilante, whom comic book fans will know is the daughter of Gotham City Police Commissioner Jim Gordon, Barbara.

JK Simmons (Whiplash) will also reprise his role as Commissioner Gordon in the film – a role he previously performed in Zack Snyder’s Justice League.
