Debra Messing and movie critics praise Nicole Kidman’s Lucille ball


Aaron Sorkin has been criticized for not choosing Debra Messing in Being the Ricardos. She’s a Lucille Ball lookalike and is a full-fledged sitcom star. Netizens questioned Nicole Kidman’s ability to play one of the funniest women in the world compared to Messing. But early reviews of Kidman’s performance in Being the Ricardos are in it. And the first audience to watch his performance gave the actor a standing ovation.

Fans wanted Debra Messing on “Being the Ricardos”

It is undeniable that Messing is a doppelganger of the ball. And Messing proved she could recreate I love lucy scenes when Will & Grace paid tribute to the sitcom. Earlier in 2021, when it was rumored that Kidman would have been cast, Messing began campaigning for the role on Twitter. And because of their likeness, fans have been shouting around the actor online hoping she would be chosen.

But alas, Kidman got the part. And support for Messing only increased when the first photos of Kidman as Ball came out, as well as the first. Being the Ricardos trailer. But on November 15, Messing commented on the backlash in Kidman’s favor. She said:

It seems that Kidman certainly proves the avowed opponents wrong. Oscar-winning actress receives rave reviews for her portrayal of ball after premiere screening of Being the Ricardos in Los Angeles on November 13.

“I was blown away by Nicole Kidman as Lucy’s because I didn’t think she could pull it off,” tweeted Daily rewards. “But the thing is, she doesn’t play the Lucy we know. She embodies the Sorkinesque ‘smartest person in the room’.

Aaron Sorkin defends the cast of “Being the Ricardos”

Sorkin said Hollywood journalist before the first screening that Kidman would prove himself, claiming the backlash didn’t bother him at all. Because of Social network, he knows a thing or two about how an underrated movie can surprise audiences.

“As far as audience anticipation goes, that’s something that just doesn’t worry me,” he said. “I’m sure when people see the film, they will leave feeling that Nicole stood up for herself very well. But on top of that, I’ve found that you can really take advantage of low expectations.

It certainly seems to be true. Being the Ricardos now appears to be an official Oscar nominee. It hits theaters on December 10 and on Amazon Prime Video on December 21.
