Dhanush, Vijay Sethupathi, R Parthiepan and More Take Top Honors

The presentation of the 67th National Film Awards took place earlier today. The awards, for films released in 2019, were presented by Indian Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu. The winners were announced in March earlier this year. However, the awards ceremony was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Actor Dhanush received the Best Actor award for his performance in Vetri Maaran’s Asura. Meanwhile, Asura also won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Tamil, and the award was received by director Vetri Maaran and producer Kalaipuli S Thanu of V Creations.

Vijay Sethupathi received the Best Supporting Actor award for his performance in his hit film super luxury. The crowd cheered Vijay’s victory, and actor Dhanush in particular gave his colleague a standing ovation.

Music composer D Imman received Best Music Director award for his composition in Ajith Kumar-starrer Viswasam.

Director-actor R Parthiepan received the Special National Jury Prize for his one-man film Ottha Seruppu Size 7.

As the highlight of the event, superstar Rajinikanth received the prestigious Dada Saheb Phalke award.

From Bollywood, actors Kangana Ranaut and Manoj Bajpayee won the best actor award. Nitesh Tiwari’s Chhichhore won Best Hindi Film.
