It’s that time of year again when European titles from Venice from the previous year clash with European film productions from Cannes from the current year. Add a few winners and favorites from (mostly) Sundance and Berlin and we have the first European Film Awards shortlist. This year, the ceremony takes place on December 10 in Reykjavík, Iceland, and of the 30 mentioned today, the next wave will decrease to half of the offerings. The first official screening must have taken place between June 1, 2021 and May 31 and have a European director. Last year the big winner was Quo Vadis, Aida?.
