Film makers release statement clarifying rumors that Hrithik Roshan refused to star in UP

Directed by Pushkar and Gayathri, Vikram Vedha stars Hrithik Roshan, Saif Ali Khan and Radhika Apte in the lead roles. The film is a Hindi remake of the Tamil film under the same name. The Tamil version however featured R Madhavan and Vijay Sethupati in the lead roles. Recently, rumors have been making the rounds on social media claiming that the producers have an established schedule in UP and are eager to shoot the film in state lanes. Vikram Vedha’s budget, however, was doubled due to Hrithik’s insistence that the filmmakers build opulent sets in Dubai rather than allow him to shoot in Uttar Pradesh. Reliance Entertainment, which is co-producing the film, responded to the rumors by releasing an official statement and calling them “false”.

The statement read: “We have noticed numerous misleading and totally unsubstantiated reports about Vikram Vedha filming locations. We want to make it clear that Vikram Vedha was extensively filmed in India including Lucknow. Part of the film was tour in the United Arab Emirates in October-November 2021 since it was the only place offering infrastructures for a bio-bubble that could accommodate such a large team, also allowing the construction of sets in the studio during the months preceding filming. Doing this for health and protocol reasons. Any attempt to misrepresent this set of facts is clearly malicious and misleading. Additionally, we would like to emphatically state that at Reliance Entertainment, while we welcome suggestions from talent creative, production and budgetary decisions are a centralized prerogative.

The action-packed crime thriller Vikram Vedha, based on the Indian folk tale “Vikram Aur Betal”, follows a tough police officer as he sets out to find and pursue a dangerous thug. The film also stars Rohit Saraf, Yogita Bihani and Satyadeep Mishra in supporting roles. Vikram Veda is set to release on September 30, 2022.
