The 2021 Los Angeles Film Critics Association (LAFCA) Top Movies and Performances vote takes place virtually on Saturday. Rewards are announced via the group Twitter account. during the day. As previously announced, Mel Brooks received the Group Excellence Award. “Mel Brooks is a national treasure and a comedic film legend,” said LAFCA President Claudia Puig when the honor was announced. “Most of our members could probably quote whole sections of his scripts.” She added: “He not only made us laugh out loud, but he broke comedic barriers and paved the way and influenced generations of filmmakers after him.”
