Indian film industry’s worst fears have come true. As the number of Omicron cases grows rapidly across the country and state governments impose restrictions, the producers of RRR, the highly anticipated film from Bahubali SS Rajamouli director, have decided to postpone the film’s release.

The film, which has been in the works for more than three years, was due out on January 7 in different languages. Starring Ajay Devgn, Jr NTR, Ram Charan and Alia Bhatt, the film has become highly anticipated.

After high-profile pre-release events in Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad over the past two weeks, producers announced today that they are delaying the release due to “situations beyond our control.”

“As many Indian states are closing their theaters, we have no choice,” the film’s official Twitter account said.

“With the best interests of all parties in mind, we are forced to postpone our film. Our sincere thanks to all the fans and the public for their unconditional love, ”he said.

Other versions are also in balance?

The releases of a few big budget films in Bollywood and Tollywood (Telugu film industry) have been postponed to ease the pressure on screens, as the RRR film was due out on January 7 before the Pongal season.

Taking elements from the lives of freedom fighters Komuram Bheem and Alluri Seetaramaraju, the big-budget film created a huge buzz.

The fate of the other big budget films that are also slated to release during the Pongal season remains unclear.

The roster includes Prabhas-Puja Hegde with Radhe Shyam scheduled for release on January 14, Valimai (Ajit) on January 13.
