Maamanithan wins the gold medal at the Tokyo Film Awards – Cinema express

The star of Vijay Sethupathi Maamanithan won a gold medal at the Tokyo Film Awards, which was held recently.

Taking to Twitter, director Seenu Ramasamy, who helmed the film, said, “Category Gold Winner (Best Asian Film) Glad to share our #Maamanithan feature film Won the Tokyo Film Awards 2022 Thanks to the producer @thisisysr.”

While Takahiro Kawabe Love Song at 5 p.m.won silver and Mart Bira’s nomadic doctor pocket the bronze.

Maamanithan follows the life of a simple man who tries to give his children a good education by getting them admitted to a private school. However, he gets mixed up after making a deal with a real estate developer and gets tricked.

Maamanithan also includes Gayathrie, KPAC Lalitha, Guru Somasundaram and Shaji Chen among others. The film was released in theaters on June 24 and is currently streaming on Aha Tamil. The film’s cinematography and editing were handled by M Sukumar and A Sreekar Prasad respectively. It also saw the legendary Ilaiyaraaja and his son Yuvan Shankar Raja come together for the first time to compose music.
