Occupation tops Czech film critics awards


PRAGUE: the first feature film by Michal Nohejl Occupation topped the 12th Czech Film Critics Awards, winning four categories including Best Film, Best Director and Best Screenplay.

The quirky drama about the events that unfold when a drunken Soviet commander stumbles upon a party at a provincial theater in occupied 1970s Czechoslovakia had been nominated in six categories. It was produced by unit and sofa in co-production with Czech television and PFXand supported by the Czech Film Fund.
