SS Rajamouli’s RRR filmmaker company has raised a hefty sum of Rs 1200 crore globally. With this, the period action film became the second highest grossing Indian film of the year after Yash and Prashanth Neel’s KGF Chapter 2. The film hit Japanese theaters on October 21 and is roaring there.
Ram Charan and Jr NTR’s starring film, RRR, was released in Japanese theaters on October 21. The film earned around Rs 4.7 crore in its first week. With this, the film also entered the top 10 at the Japanese box office.
According to a report, the film Muthu, starring Rajinikanth, was the highest-grossing Indian debut film in Japan, grossing Rs 2.230 million at the Japanese box office in 1998. This list also includes SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, which earned around Rs 16.73 million at the Japanese box office.
Rajamouli’s film RRR was released in India on March 24. Apart from Ram Charan and Jr NTR, Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgan also appeared in the lead roles in this film. Made with a budget of 550 crores, this film made a business of Rs 902 crores in India.
The film, made in multiple languages, has now collected $145 million worldwide, but only time will tell if the film crosses the $150 million mark.
These Indian films also topped the Japanese box office
According to the report, it is also speculated that the film might cross the lifetime collection of other Indian films. The list of other films includes 3 Idiots by Aamir Khan, which collected Rs 9 crores at the Japanese box office, Padman by Akshay Kumar collected Rs 5 crores, Dangal by Aamir Khan did a mammoth Rs 40 million deal and Baahubali: The Beginning by Rajamouli, made a collection of 4 crores 10 lakhs.
