The African American Film Critics Association Awards celebrate achievements in film and television

Superstar comedians are popping up in comedy clubs all over New York. The word on the sidewalk is Chris Rock did an hour-long comedy on March 3 at the Comedy Cellar in Greenwich Village. A spy witness said Rock, who will present at the Oscars on March 27, did the impromptu show in preparation for an upcoming tour. Meanwhile, it was also reported that Rock’s good friend, Dave Chappellesurprised the Blue Note Jazz Club audience that evening by introducing his long-time friend, Talib Kwelibefore the musician took the stage with his band, The Whiskey Boys…..

“Hit The Floor” actress Taylor Paige looked very happy at the Independent Spirit Awards on March 6 after winning Best Female Performance for her role as the title character in ‘Zola’, a stripper crime comedy film. The film was inspired by a Twitter thread posted by King Azia Zolain which she told the story of a road trip from Detroit to Tampa with an opal named Stefani, played by by Lisa Marie Presley daughter, Riley Keough. In her acceptance speech, Paige called Riley her “best friend,” then gave special thanks to the real Zola. However, Paige did not thank jesse williamsso there must be some truth to the rumors that she and the former ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ star are no longer a couple…

As one of the co-sponsors of this year’s African American Film Critics Association Awards, #AAFCA13, #NissanDiversity graciously hosted a media panel that included Jawn Murrayexecutive producer of “The Sherri Show”, Geneva S. Thomasof People and “Entertainment Weekly”, Kimatni Rawlins. Yours Truly also attended the event, which took place at the SLS Hotel in Los Angeles. The two-day #NissanAtAAFCA extravaganza included a media dinner at the Sunset Marquis Hotel, where celebrity guest was the “Insecure” actor Jay Ellis, as well as a media brunch at the women- and black-owned “1010 Wine Bar and Events” space in Inglewood, California. The awards ceremony was star-studded with winners and attendees, including Aunjanue Elliswho won Best Supporting Actress for ‘King Richard’, ‘King Richard’ director Reinaldo Marcus Green, Sherri Shepherd, Lee Daniels the director of “The Harder They Fall”, Jeymes Samuel, with several of its actors, including Deion Cole. Award-winning jazz musician Terrence Blanchard, Cassandra Freeman, who plays Aunt Viv in “Belair” and Sing Adams of the “Journal For Jordan” was also present. #AAFCA13 was founded by veteran film critic and author Gil Robertson.

A month after celebrating good times with concerts at casino venues in Las Vegas and Atlantic City, the legendary hitmakers Kool and the gang enter March 2022 with a series of shows in Nashville, Orlando and Fayetteville. The Grammy Award-winning band will perform at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center in Nashville on March 13. A week later, they’re heading to Orlando, Florida for two nights at the Walt Disney World Resort on March 20-21 as part of EPCOT. International Flower and Garden Festival — Garden Rocks Concert Series. Then on March 26, the group will be at the Fayetteville Amphitheater in Georgia……..
