The Newark Short Film Awards are back for 2021 with free shows

NEWARK, NJ – Filmmakers from five countries will showcase their creativity at a short film awards ceremony in Newark this week.

The Newark Short Film Awards and I’m So Newark will hold their 2021 program on Friday October 8 and Saturday October 9. This year’s events are free to the public (with pre-registration required). Participants must wear a mask at all events.

This year’s program partner and host location is the Aferro Gallery, located at 73 Market Street. The event is sponsored in part by Sony Pictures Entertainment.

An after-party and comedy show will be organized on Saturday, October 9 at Neptune’s Bar & Grill, 304 University Avenue.

Entrants from the Tri-State region and beyond, come together to network with industry professionals, attend career enhancement workshops, panels and more. This year’s event received submissions from filmmakers from five countries. “

This year marks the fourth program of the Newark Short Film Awards and marks the return of the event in person.
