Victories for “Harry Potter” and “Fantastic Beasts” actors at the HCA Film Awards and WhatsOnStage Awards


Awards season is upon us, and once again, many Harry Potter and fantastic beasts the actors and the films they star in have been nominated. Let’s take a look at the latest wins at the 2022 Hollywood Critics Association Awards and WhatsOnStage Awards.


Semi-autobiographical film by Kenneth Branagh (Gilderoy Lockhart) Belfast received a whopping nine nominations in the HCA Film Awardincluding Branagh nominated for Best Director and Best Original Screenplay, and fellow Potter actor Ciarán Hinds (Aberforth Dumbledore) received a nomination for Best Supporting Actor.

It has now been announced that Belfast won Best Cast Ensemble and Branagh received the Honorary Achievement in Artistic Award.

The psychological horror film directed by Edgar Wright features Harry Potter actors James Phelps (Fred Weasley) and Oliver Phelps (George Weasley) as well as other notable actors such as Anya-Taylor Joy (To divide, The Queen’s Bet) and Matt Smith (Doctor Who, The crown).

It won Best Horror at the HCA Film Awards, and the editor, Paul Machliss, also received Best Film Editing.


spencerwhich features Harry Potter actor Timothy Spall (Peter Pettigrew), was nominated for eight awards in total at the HCA Film Awards: Best Film, Best Actress (Kristen Stewart), Best Director (Pablo Larraín), Best Independent Film, Best Music (Jonny Greenwood) , Best Cinematography (Claire Mathon), Best Production Design (Guy Hendrix Dyas) and Best Costume Design (Jacqueline Durran).

The film won only one award, Best Actress, which went to Kristen Stewart for her portrayal of the infamous Diana Spencer.


Best Costume Design at the HCA Film Awards went to Jenny Beavan, for Cruelwhich stars Emma Thompson (Sybill Trelawney) as the evil Baroness, for the immensely spectacular costumes worn by the actors.


the winners of the 22nd edition of the WhatsOnStage Awards were announced, and fantastic beasts actor Eddie Redmayne (Newt Scamander) was crowned winner of the Best Male Performer category[-]Identification of role in a musical for his performance as emcee in Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club at the Playhouse Theater in London.
